Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Who owns and maintains Styron Square?

A:  Styron Square is private property owned and maintained by the Port Warwick Conservancy.  The Conservancy reserves the right to control access, police and regulate the property.

 

Q:  Where can one park when attending a concert?

A:  Limited parking is available at Styron Square.  Additional parking is available along Herman Melville and Walt Whitman Avenues.  Alleys and the Turner Building parking area are privately owned.  Parking violators in these areas will be towed at car owner’s expense.  Parking in commercial and medical facility parking areas is at one’s own risk.

 

Q:  Are restrooms available for use during the concerts?

A:  Portable restrooms are provided. 

 

Q:  What is the concert cancellation policy?

A:  Concert cancellations are weather dependant.  Rain occurring after 3:00 p.m. the day of an event may result in a cancelled event.  Cancellations will not be posted on the web site.  The Events Committee answering service will be notified if a concert is cancelled (757-223-0284).

 

Q:  What is the policy on consuming alcohol during the concerts?

A:  Port Warwick Conservancy has an ABC license for private consumption of legal alcohol by those of legal drinking age within the chained areas surrounding Styron Square during a concert.  Attendees may bring their own legal alcohol and consume at their own risk.  Selling of alcohol is presently not allowed on Styron Square during concerts.  Port Warwick Conservancy assumes no liability regarding the consumption of alcohol by individuals at any of its events, but reserves the right to restrict alcohol consumption by anyone.

 

Q:  What is the policy on smoking tobacco products during the concerts?

A:  Smoking is allowed on Styron Square.  However, Port Warwick Conservancy reserves the right to ask those causing a nuisance by smoking to extinguish any and all smoking materials.  Being respectful of other attendees regarding second-hand smoke is requested.  Those not respecting Conservancy requests will be escorted from Styron Square.

 

Q:  What is the policy on erecting a tent or hosting a gathering during a concert?

A:  Tents are not allowed except for sponsors, however, go to www.liveonthesquare.org for information on the Patron Party Package.
